Areas of Dundee

West End

An affluent area in the centre of the city with stunning Edwardian homes, a great area for families. The area is also close to the University of Dundee campus, making it popular with young people as well. The area is close to the recently developed Cultural Quarter that includes theatres, a science centre and the Dundee Contemporary Arts building. You can also enjoy the outdoors in spaces such as Magdalen Green, Dundee’s oldest park that includes a bandstand that hosts regular concerts.

Lochee

Also in the west of the city, Lochee was once a town in its own right before being incorporated into the city. The area has a proud industrial history, including Scotland’s tallest surviving industrial chimney, and has a strong sense of community. You’ll find plenty of properties that are suitable for small families, including flats, studio apartments and detached or semi-detached homes.

Menzieshill

Further out to the west of the city centre you’ll find Menzieshill, an area growing in popularity that is a short bus ride from the city centre. The area is local to Ninewells Hospital, making it popular among those that work there. The area has a mixture of housing, including council and private homes, taking the form of flats, terraced houses and semi-detached and detached homes.

Broughty Ferry

A popular suburb of the city, Broughty Ferry is around 4 miles east of the city centre sitting on the banks of the Firth of Tay. The area is home to a wide variety of properties, from older villas and mansions to modern detached homes and flats on the waterfront. It’s easy to commute from Broughty Ferry into the city centre on regular buses and you can also easily catch a train south to Edinburgh or Glasgow.
